Job Descriptions & Responsibilities:
Position Overview:
The Technical Head Electrical Engineer will be responsible for leading and managing the electrical engineering functions for the EPC projects, ensuring all technical aspects of the electrical systems are designed, procured, and installed to meet client specifications and standards. The role requires strong leadership, excellent technical knowledge, and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver projects on time, within budget, and to high-quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Planning & Execution
- Lead the electrical engineering team to deliver EPC projects, from concept to completion, while meeting technical, cost, and schedule requirements.
- Develop and review detailed electrical designs, specifications, and drawings for electrical systems.
- Oversee electrical engineering activities in the planning, design, procurement, construction, and commissioning phases of projects.
Design & Engineering Management
- Supervise the preparation of electrical design documents, including single-line diagrams, load schedules, and electrical layouts.
- Ensure compliance with national and international standards, codes, and client requirements.
- Conduct technical reviews and provide guidance on the design, selection, and installation of electrical systems (e.g., power distribution, lighting, grounding, and communication systems).
Team Leadership & Coordination
- Manage and mentor a team of electrical engineers, designers, and draftsmen, providing technical support and leadership.
- Collaborate with other engineering disciplines (mechanical, civil, instrumentation, etc.) to ensure design integration and resolve technical issues.
- Interface with project managers, clients, and vendors to ensure project milestones are met and any issues are addressed promptly.
Procurement & Vendor Management
- Oversee the preparation of electrical equipment and material specifications for procurement.
- Evaluate and approve vendor proposals for electrical systems and equipment.
- Coordinate with procurement teams to ensure timely delivery of materials and equipment for project execution.
Quality Assurance & Compliance
- Ensure that all electrical designs and installations comply with safety, regulatory, and quality standards.
- Implement quality assurance procedures during design, procurement, and construction stages.
- Conduct inspections and audits of electrical installations and systems.
Troubleshooting & Problem Solving
- Provide technical support during the commissioning and testing phases to resolve any electrical-related issues.
- Review and approve as-built drawings and ensure compliance with original designs.
Reporting & Documentation
- Prepare and present regular technical reports to senior management and stakeholders on project progress, technical challenges, and solutions.
- Maintain proper documentation for all electrical design and engineering activities.
Key Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (Master's preferred).
- Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in electrical engineering in the EPC contracting industry, with at least 5 years in a leadership or managerial role.
- Technical Skills:
- Strong knowledge of electrical engineering principles, design codes, and industry standards.
- Proficient in electrical design software (AutoCAD, ETAP, etc.).
- Experience with electrical system integration and commissioning.
- Knowledge of low, medium, and high-voltage electrical systems and components.
- Leadership & Communication:
- Proven track record of leading teams in a high-pressure project environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact with clients, vendors, and internal teams.
- Ability to mentor junior engineers and guide them in technical and professional development.
- Certifications: Relevant certifications in electrical engineering or project management (e.g., PMP) are preferred.
